credit crunch in 2007 too many mortgages were granted with insufficient regard to
customer's credit worthiness or ability to meet the repayments as lenders scrabbled

Budget 2010: Stamp Duty Threshold raised - Tuesday 6th April 2010
The government have announced that they have suspended stamp duty on properties
bought by first time buyers up to the value of £250,000. The change comes into effect
for all purchase completions from the 25th March 2010 until 25th March 2012.

Time to consider a fixed rate remortgage? - Wednesday 2nd February 2010
According to Santander Mortgage's Remo Index, which monitors trends on a monthly
basis, over 880,000 UK homeowners on tracker or fixed rate mortgages could be looking
to remortgage in the next six months.
This equates to some 4,848 potential remortgages each day over the next six months.
Given the present low rates you might be asking yourself why that would be the case.
